Ecology consciousness and how it supports you to be a better leader.

Our work is based on ecology and ecosystems. Ecology is the branch of biology that deals with the relationship of organisms to one another and their physical surroundings. Ecosystems are biological communities of interacting organisms and the physical environment they operate in.

The world is made up of a vast array of ecosystems of many different types. Environmental, financial, political, community, social, business, family, and so on. On a personal level, your foundation ecosystems are those in which your key relationships and day to day interactions occur. When you stop to inspect your life you will see that everything you do unfolds inside these interconnected ecosystems.

When you deliberately explore an ecosystem you learn about its needs and those of its key stakeholders. This enables you to gauge how effectively you are responding to them and to assess the impact this is having. Armed with this perspective you can make informed decisions about which needs are most important to prioritise and how to improve the way you are meeting them.

We call this philosophy Ecology Consciousness and it is at the heart of everything ecology six do. When we refer to consciousness we are talking about the level of awareness you are navigating life with. The greater your awareness, the more you are able to see and understand.

Ecology consciousness has three golden rules.

  1. Know the ecosystems you belong to.
  2. Understand their needs.
  3. Do your best to meet them.

The golden rules are an energetic flow in service to meet someone else’s needs. Not a “what you can do for me?” perspective. They can be applied to any ecosystem, in any area of your life. Using the three golden rules will support you to contribute real value to the ecosystems you belong to and help make your relationship with them more fruitful and sustainable.

Because all ecosystems constantly change and evolve, they require you to stay connected to their current time needs or run the risk of being out of touch. How well you do this is dependent on taking care of the most important ecosystem of all, your personal ecosystem.

Your personal ecosystem combines your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well being. This is where your thoughts and actions originate from. Through our thoughts and actions, we all have the capacity to change the world and the lives of the people in it for better or worse. Think of them as energetic ripples that flow into the world and impact the people in your life. Maintaining wellbeing improves the quality of your ripple and supports you to be at your best. From this place, you can more effectively contribute value to the ecosystems you belong to.

The beauty of Ecology Consciousness is that it is not only about what happens in your personal life. It is also completely relevant in the commercial world because any organisation aspiring to become customer-centric has to understand its customers in the same way if it is going to build sustainable, long term relationships with them.

Customer-centric leadership capability is not just about what you know and what you do. It is also about what you are being, and the level of awareness you are operating with.

When you embrace ecology consciousness you are making a commitment to understanding the needs of the ecosystems you belong to and then to meet them with actions that deliver added value outcomes for all members, and the ecosystems themselves. Operating this way provides a pathway to achieving sustainable success while living in balance and harmony with the world around you.

At its heart, ecology consciousness is what conscious, customer-centric leadership is all about.
